MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621099349 A) filed by Lakshmi Narain College Of Technology Excellence on August 17, 2026, for Wayside Railway Track Monitoring System.
Inventors include Satyarth Tiwari; and Dr. Deepika Sharma.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: A wayside railway track monitoring system, comprises a wayside station 101 positioned adjacent to a railway track for monitoring a passing train, at least one sensing unit oriented toward an axle box or bearing housing to capture thermal data, and at least one axle detection sensor 102 installed near the track to detect passage of individual wheel sets or axles, a sensing suite is provided to detect operational parameters of the passing train, and an environment sensing module 110 measures surrounding environmental conditions, an edge-AI processing unit is operatively connected to all sensors to collect and synchronize data, generate axle-wise temperature profiles, compensate readings using environmental inputs, determine bearing condition, perform multi-sensor analysis, predict potential bearing failure, and generate axle-specific alerts, a communication module transmits the alerts to railway control or maintenance systems.
