Abstract: The present invention relates to a water-debondable polybenzoxazine vitrimer adhesive of Formula 2 for the recovery of metals and fabrics, and its method of synthesis. The vitrimer comprises a cured vitrimeric polybenzoxazine network derived from a vanillin-based benzoxazine monomer functionalized with triethoxysilyl groups and branched polyethyleneimine. The network integrates polybenzoxazine segments and dynamic imine linkages, enabling strong adhesion, particularly to metallic substrates such as stainless steel and aluminium. The adhesive of Formula 2 allows controlled debonding in water at 70 to 90 °C within 15 to 30 minutes. It facilitates clean substrate recovery and reprocessing of the adhesive material, supporting closed-loop recycling. [Figure 1]
