Abstract: A waste bin monitoring and alert system (102) includes a control unit (104) having a processor (302) and a memory (304). The control unit (104) receives sensor data from a sensor unit (106) detecting rainfall, lid position, and waste fill level. A rain-detected lid-open condition is determined upon concurrent rainfall and open lid detection. A waste-full condition is determined upon waste fill reaching a threshold. An indicator unit (108) is actuated in blinking mode upon the rain-detected lid-open condition and steady illumination mode upon the waste-full condition. Upon the waste-full condition, location data is obtained from a positioning unit (112), an alert notification including the location data and a timestamp is generated, and the notification is transmitted to a user device (116) via a communication unit (110) using a secured communication protocol.
