Abstract: WALKING STICK FOR ASSISTING STAIR NAVIGATION ABSTRACT A walking stick (100) for assisting stair navigation is disclosed. The stick (100) comprising a handle (102) comprising a user-actuated mechanism (104); a shaft (106) extending from the handle (102) to a distal end (108); a foldable pad (110) disposed near the distal end (108) of the shaft (106). The foldable pad (110), in a deployed state, forms a temporary intermediate stepping surface between adjacent stair steps to facilitate ascent and descent of a user; a deployment mechanism (112) operatively coupled between the user-actuated mechanism (104) and the foldable pad (110). The deployment mechanism (112) deploys the foldable pad (110) in response to an actuation input; and a locking mechanism (116) configured to maintain the foldable pad (110) in the deployed state during the stair navigation. The stick (100) facilitates portability, user convenience, and enhanced accessibility during movement across environments that include staircases and level surfaces.
