MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541016654 A) filed by Ola Electric Mobility Limited on February 25, 2025, for Voltage Controlled Regenerative Braking For High State- Of-Charge Battery.
Inventors include Aggarwal, Bhavish; Kumar, Bittu; and Pattanaik, Biswajit.
The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT VOLTAGE CONTROLLED REGENERATIVE BRAKING AT HIGH STATE-OF-CHARGE (SOC) OF A BATTERY Approaches for voltage controlled regenerative braking in an electric vehicle 5 (200) at high battery state of charge (SOC) levels are described. The electric vehicle (200) includes a control unit (104) to manage a protection circuit (208) integrated with a brake-by-wire system to enable energy recovery during regenerative braking. In an example, the protection circuit (208) includes a storage capacitor (212) configured to store excess voltage 10 during high-SOC regenerative braking, and a DC-DC converter (214) configured to step up an input voltage from the storage capacitor to a predefined voltage for powering the battery (204). The protection circuit (208) further includes a plurality of switches (210) which are selectively controlled by the control unit (104) to direct regenerative braking power 15 among the battery (204), the storage capacitor (212), and the DC-DC converter (214).
