Abstract: This invention presents VOCAMED, an intelligent audio-based system designed to assist visually impaired individuals in safely identifying and managing medicines. The system integrates image capture, text recognition, intelligent interpretation, and audio output to provide real-time spoken instructions from medicine labels. The system captures images of medicine labels using a smartphone or device camera and employs Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and natural language processing (NLP) to extract and interpret key information, including medicine names, dosages, expiry dates, and warnings. The interpreted information is then converted into clear and intelligible audio, allowing users to safely understand medication instructions without assistance. VOCAMED is structured with multiple modules, including image capture, text processing, audio output, and user interaction, supported by a centralized database for storing label data, user preferences, and system logs. The platform enhances independence, minimizes the risk of medication errors, and provides an accessible, reliable, and user-friendly solution for visually impaired individuals. By automating label reading and delivering accurate audio instructions, the system improves safety, promotes confidence, and facilitates independent medication management in everyday life.
