Abstract: The Vision-Assisted Targeting System (VATS) is a soldier-mounted, AI-integrated apparatus designed to enhance battlefield situational awareness and threat response. The system comprises a multi-spectral camera array mounted on the soldier’s rear shoulder, including RGB, infrared, thermal, and stereo-vision sensors, providing 360-degree surveillance with special emphasis on blind spots. An embedded AI processor performs real-time object detection, threat classification, and predictive analysis. A gimbal-mounted weapon system autonomously aligns with high-priority threats and supports manual, assisted, or fully autonomous engagement. The system communicates with a remote Ground Base Unit via encrypted RF links for live monitoring and command override. Power is supplied through a hybrid battery, piezoelectric, and solar energy system, with a backup capacitor ensuring emergency operation. Integrated with haptic, audio, and visual human-machine interfaces, VATS offers modularity, ruggedized design, and autonomous operation, drastically improving soldier survivability by detecting and neutralizing rear threats before they reach engagement proximity.
