Abstract: Systems and techniques are provided for wireless communications. A wireless communication device can receive, from a network entity, a message indicative of a request to join a virtual group, addressed based on a first group identifier value for a first synchronization group including the wireless communication device and indicative of a second group identifier value corresponding to the virtual group. At a first time corresponding to the first group identifier value, a first synchronization message addressed to the first synchronization group can be received. At a second time corresponding to the second group identifier value, a second synchronization message can be received including information addressed to a second synchronization group that does not include the wireless communication device and includes one or more virtual group operational codes addressed to the virtual group, wherein the second synchronization group and the virtual group share the second group identifier value.
