MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641085488 A) filed by Chennai Institute Of Technology on July 13, 2026, for Vibration Damping Base Pad For Additive Manufacturing Equipment Using Elastomeric Lattice Structures.

Inventors include Dr. V. Dhinakaran; and Pradeep Castro P.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: The titled invention discloses a vibration damping base pad for additive manufacturing equipment, particularly fused deposition modeling (FDM) 3D printers, configured to reduce mechanical vibrations transmitted from the equipment to a supporting surface. The vibration damping base pad comprises a base pad body (1) formed from an elastomeric base material (6) and incorporating an internal triangular lattice structure (2) having a plurality of triangular lattice cells (3) separated by intermediate void spaces (4) for enhanced vibration absorption and energy dissipation. The base pad further includes one or more mounting slots (5) for attachment to the equipment frame, an adjustable lattice parameter region (7) enabling variation of lattice density, cell size, and wall thickness to optimize damping characteristics, and a supporting surface interface (8) configured to provide stable support while minimizing vibration transmission. The lattice structure, in combination with the elastomeric material, improves vibration attenuation, reduces operational noise, enhances printing stability and dimensional accuracy, and provides a modular, replaceable, and cost-effective vibration isolation solution for additive manufacturing equipment.
