MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511022816 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges on March 13, 2025, for Vertical Take-Off And Landing Drone Using Retractable Gimbal Camera.

Inventors include Dr Amanpreet Kaur; Nicky Kumari; Avinash Kumar; and Kamaljit Singh.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A vertical take-off and landing drone (100) for search and rescue, inspection of hard-to-reach areas, and aerial surveys by using retractable gimbal camera (102) integration into the vertical take-off and landing drone (100). Sensor array (104) comprising proximity sensor (104a), accelerometer sensor (104b), gyroscope sensor (104c), and weather sensor (104d) detects potential collisions, turbulence, abnormal tilt, harsh environments and trigger the retractable arm (106) attached with servo motor (108) to initiate retraction action of providing impact-resistant enclosure in central drone housing (110) for the gimbal camera (102) which extends only when needed. Power supply (112) provides energy to vertical take-off and landing drone (100) and ensures reliable functioning. AI algorithms provides for real-time decision- making. FIG. 1
