Abstract: In a vehicular key system 100 including a mobile device 1 carried by a user, and a control device 22 mounted on a vehicle 10 and configured to communicate with the mobile device 1 by wireless, the control device 22 determining whether to unlock the vehicle 10 based on a result of an authentication process, and determining whether the mobile device 1 is present in a communicable area in which communication with the vehicle 10 is feasible by determining whether the communication with the mobile device 1 is established, the control device 22 determines whether the communication with the mobile device 1 can be established, sets a flag to ON when it is determined that the communication with the mobile device 1 is not established, executes the authentication process while the flag is set to ON, then permits the start of a prime mover 24 when the authentication process is successful, and does not permit the start of the prime mover 24 when the authentication process is unsuccessful.
