MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611100367 A) filed by Yashdeep; and Blinq Mobility Private Limited on August 19, 2026, for Vehicle-Side Battery Lock State Detection Using A Mechanically Encoded Displacement Member.
Inventors include Abhilasha Marmat; and Nikesh Bisht.
The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a battery lock state detection system for an electric vehicle battery swapping arrangement. The system comprises a battery locking mechanism having a movable lock member associated with an encoded displacement member, at least one vehicle-mounted sensing device configured to detect movement of the encoded displacement member, and a controller configured to determine displacement of the movable lock member based on sensing signals generated during movement thereof. The controller verifies substantially the complete mechanical travel of the movable lock member and determines an operational state of the battery locking mechanism including a fully locked state, a fully unlocked state, or a partial-lock state. The determined operational state may be communicated to one or more vehicle control systems and a battery swapping station controller to enable vehicle safety functions and battery swapping operations. The disclosed system provides independent vehicle-side verification of battery engagement, continuous monitoring of lock movement, generation of lock-state outputs and fault indications, and reliable verification of battery retention while reducing dependence on end-position sensing and station-side verification systems.
