Abstract: In a first aspect of the vehicle control device and the vehicle control method of the present invention, the standby flow rate, which is the flow rate of an electric pump determined on the basis of a temperature relating to the temperature of a drive circuit for driving an electric motor, is set in advance before a vehicle accelerates. Due to the configuration described above, the power consumption of an electric pump for circulating a cooling medium in a circulation path connected to the drive circuit can be reduced while keeping the temperature rise accompanying the acceleration of the drive circuit for driving the electric motor capable of outputting power to the drive wheels within an allowable range.
