MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621076202 A) filed by Meril Medical Innovations Private Limited on June 19, 2026, for Vascular Occlusion Device With Independent Braided Petals For Conformable Intrasaccular Aneurysm Occlusion.

Inventors include Kothwala, Deveshkumar Mahendralal; Shaikh, Amirhamzah Mahmadiqbal A; Mehri, Ushama Sajid; Shah, Mohammad Faisal; Chawla, Varun; and Gupta, Amit Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: A vascular occlusion device (100, 400) includes a plurality of flat braided petals (104) arranged circumferentially about a central axis (A1). Each flat braided petal is a discrete braided unit. Braided wires of each flat braided petal terminate within a jacket (108) proximally and at a distal end. Each flat braided petal is structurally independent of an adjacent flat braided petal at lateral edges. The plurality of flat braided petals (104) collectively forms a dome anchor (102) in an expanded configuration. Interwoven wire crossings of each flat braided petal provide localised rotational compliance at each crossing point. Each flat braided petal individually deflects to conform to surface irregularities of an inner wall of an aneurysm independently of adjacent flat braided petals. Individual deflection of each flat braided petal distributes contact forces across the plurality of flat braided petals (104) upon deployment. FIG. 1
