Abstract: The present invention relates to a valuable metal recovery reactant, a valuable metal shred, and a method of recovering a valuable metal. The valuable metal reactant of the present invention includes valuable metals recovered from waste batteries, and comprises: a first valuable metal-containing material including an alloy or oxide containing at least one of iron (Fe) or phosphorus (P); a second valuable metal-containing material including a non-magnetic material; and a carbon compound including carbon. The first valuable metal-containing material includes: a third valuable metal-containing material including a magnetic material; and a first lithium compound attached to the surface of the third valuable metal-containing material, wherein the lithium content of the first lithium compound is at least 1.5% in terms of weight percent in the first valuable metal-containing material.
