Abstract: The present invention discloses the arecanut husk which is agricultural waste acts as natural dye source for textile application along with suitable extraction method and extraction conditions. The natural dye from arecanut husk is extracted by Alkaline extraction method (2% NaOH) at 80°C temperature for 120 min having significantly maximum dye yield The natural dye provided by the invention shows good colour fastness properties on cotton fabric.
