Abstract: A vaginal temperature monitoring device (100) for a ruminant animal includes a probe body having an inner housing (102) and an outer housing (106) in a biocompatible T-shaped configuration sized for placement within a vaginal cavity. Opposed arm ends (116, 118) are flexible to bend during insertion and retain the probe body during animal movement. An internal compartment (122) houses a temperature sensor, a microcontroller, a wireless communication module, and a rechargeable battery (126). The temperature sensor measures internal vaginal temperature, and the microcontroller processes temperature readings for wireless transmission to a receiver unit, computing device, database, or smartphone. The temperature readings may be stored in an SQL database and displayed as a graphical representation for detecting an estrus condition based on a temperature rise.
