To conserve energy, the network entity might refrain from sending one or more SIB1s associated with one or more synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) (130) in a cell. In accordance with this disclosure, the UE can send a SIB1 request (160) to obtain the SIB1 prior to other operations, such as a random access procedure or cell selection. The network can provide a configuration (110) to enable the UE to transmit the SIB1 request. The UE might send the SIB1 request during a radio resource control (RRC) idle state or RRC inactive state.
