Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a meso-scale mechanical testing device (100). The device (100) includes a force actuation mechanism (200) including a base frame (210), a sliding frame (220) slidably disposed relative to the base frame (210) and operatively coupled to a primary actuator (222), a flexure frame (230) mounted on the sliding frame. The flexure frame includes a moving frame (231) movable relative to the flexure frame (230) and operatively coupled to a secondary actuator 10 (232). A force sensing assembly (300) coupled to a load-transmitting member (340). The primary actuator (222) is configured to produce a coarse displacement of the sliding frame (220) and the secondary actuator (232) is configured to produce a fine displacement of the moving frame (231), such that the primary actuator and the secondary actuator operate in coordination to achieve precise and controlled 15 displacement of the load-transmitting member (340) relative to a specimen (400).
