Abstract: Abstract Universal Clip-On Water Consumption Estimation Device and Adaptive Estimation Method Thereof A universal clip-on water consumption estimation device for non-invasive estimation of water usage from residential and commercial taps is disclosed. The device comprises a universal clip-on housing, at least one vibration sensing module, a signal conditioning module, an embedded processing unit, and a communication interface. The embedded processing unit automatically verifies installation quality, performs adaptive calibration based on installation-specific vibration characteristics, evaluates sensor confidence, rejects external mechanical disturbances, and estimates water consumption using validated vibration signatures acquired from the external surface of the tap without modifying the plumbing system. The estimation process continuously adapts to variations in tap geometry, material properties, mounting conditions, and environmental influences, thereby enabling reliable operation across different installations without manual calibration. Estimated consumption data may be displayed locally or communicated to remote monitoring platforms for real-time monitoring, leakage detection, and intelligent water resource management.
