MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611110410 A) filed by Chandigarh University on September 15, 2026, for Unified Public Distribution System With Predictive Grain Monitoring, Biometric Fallback And Inventory Verification.
Inventors include Ankita Sharma; and Bebesh Tripathy.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: A unified public distribution system platform combines a smart IOT pallet for localized grain moisture, temperature and weight monitoring with a Multi-Modal Identity Terminal for beneficiary authentication. The terminal attempts fingerprint authentication and, after two consecutive failures, automatically initiates face or iris verification through an authorized external authentication service. When network-dependent verification is unavailable, an NFC smart card provides offline verification using encrypted and digitally signed token data. Successful authentication establishes a transaction context that causes acquisition of pre-dispensation weight W1 and post-dispensation weight W2 from the pallet, calculation of physical weight reduction, and comparison with recorded dispensed quantity. A discrepancy beyond a configured threshold causes transaction blocking. Edge and cloud analytics provide storage-risk assessment and predictive spoilage alerts.
