MUMBAI, India, Aug. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641101774 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology on August 23, 2026, for Unified Post-Quantum Cryptographic And Ai-Based Intrusion Detection Coprocessor For Secure Edge Intelligence.

Inventors include Thanga Mariappan L; and Arsha Varthini S.

The application for the patent was published on August 28, 2026, under issue no. 35/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT The present invention discloses a unified post-quantum cryptographic and machine-learning intrusion detection co- processor for resource-constrained ISR edge nodes. The system integrates a post-quantum cryptographic engine (102), TinyML intrusion detection engine (104), shared reconfigurable arithmetic datapath (103), PUF-rooted secure key storage (106), and autonomous detect-and-re-key control mechanism (107) within a compact hardware architecture. The shared datapath (103) dynamically operates as a cryptographic arithmetic processor for quantum-safe key establishment and as a neural-network acceleration unit for real-time anomaly detection. Feature taps (105) collect network traffic, telemetry, and cryptographic event parameters for intrusion analysis. Upon detecting abnormal activity, the autonomous control mechanism (107) initiates secure session key regeneration through secure key management (108) and generates anomaly alerts (109). The invention reduces hardware overhead, power consumption, and improves adaptive cybersecurity protection for edge-based ISR systems.
