MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641115560 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on September 26, 2026, for Underwater Range And Acoustic-Signature Based Actuation.

Inventors include Swamy, Niranjan Durgada Kumara; and Kumar, Katika Dinesh.

The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides underwater range and acoustic-signature based actuation including a submarine vessel (102) housing a microcontroller (102-2) including a processor (102-2A) and a memory (102-2B) storing a threshold value (102-2B-6) and acoustic indicators (102-2B-2) indexed with a threat level indicator (102-2B-4). An ultrasonic sensor array (102-4) generates propagation delay data streams (102-4A) to compute point clouds (102-2A-4) delineating surrounding objects. An acoustic sensor array (102-6) generates data streams (102-6A) yielding a spectral signature (102-2A-6). The processor (102-2A) compares the spectral signature (102-2A-6) against the acoustic indicators (102-2B-2) when the point clouds (102-2A-4) indicate proximity within a threshold distance, and actuates an actuator (102-8) when the threat level indicator (102-2B-4) exceeds the threshold value (102-2B-6). Unlike conventional passive systems, this approach utilizes spatial-temporal gating to selectively trigger acoustic profiling, thereby minimizing latency in an energy-efficient manner.
