MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641079082 A) filed by Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham on June 26, 2026, for Uncertainty-Gated System For Histopathological Grade Classification Of Breast Cancer.
Inventors include Sasidharan, Renjith; and V. , Sreelekshmi.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system (100) and a method (300) for grade classification of breast cancer from a histopathological image (102). The system (100) includes a feature extraction unit (104) that receives the histopathological image (102) at a set of magnification levels (104-4) through a shared weight set (104-2), a graph processing unit (110) that propagates a cell-graph (216) derived from a set of nuclei (210) through a number of attention layers (218), an uncertainty-gating unit (108) that routes the histopathological image (102) through a first pathway (114) or a second pathway (116) in accordance with a predictive entropy under a clinician-review flag (112), and a classifier (118) that produces a grade classification (120). Unlike conventional approaches that apply uniform analytical depth to every histopathological image (102), the disclosed routing reserves graph-based propagation for ambiguous cases. Applications include computer-aided diagnosis of breast cancer.
