Inventors include Dr. J. N. Cheerlin Mishma; Dr. V. Bena Jothy; and Dr. M. B. Arthina Titlin.
The application for the patent was published on June 26, 2026, under issue no. 26/2026.
Abstract: Ultrasound-Activated Smart Drug Release Device for Controlled Pharmaceutical Delivery is the proposed invention. The proposed invention focuses on an ultrasound- activated smart drug release device for controlled pharmaceutical delivery. The system utilizes ultrasound-responsive carrier materials including biodegradable polymers, hydrogels, nanocapsules, and liposomal structures for encapsulating therapeutic compounds. Upon exposure to externally applied ultrasonic waves, the carrier undergoes structural modification that enables regulated release of the stored drug at targeted physiological locations. The release characteristics are controlled through adjustment of ultrasound frequency, intensity, and pulse duration. The device further incorporates monitoring and control mechanisms for maintaining dosage precision and adaptive therapeutic delivery. The proposed invention improves bioavailability, enhances site-specific targeting, reduces systemic toxicity, and minimizes repeated dosing requirements. The system is suitable for applications including cancer treatment, neurological therapy, cardiovascular medication delivery, chronic disease management, and precision medicine systems.
