MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521039832 A) filed by Adani New Industries Limited on April 25, 2025, for Ultrasonic Lye Degassing Of Dissolved Gases For Safe Operation Of An Alkaline Water Electrolyzer.
Inventor includes Sachin Daulatgir Giri.
The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.
Abstract: “ULTRASONIC LYE DEGASSING OF DISSOLVED GASES FOR SAFE OPERATION OF AN ALKALINE WATER ELECTROLYZER” The present invention relates to the field of electrochemical water-splitting systems and, more specifically, the invention relates to a system and method for ultrasonic lye degassing of dissolved gases for safe operation of an alkaline electrolyzer. The system comprises a pump (1), an electrolyzer stack unit (2), and a gas-liquid separator assembly (3.1, 3.2). To mitigate gaseous crossover and prevent explosive mixture formation during low-load conditions, an ultrasonication assembly comprising sonication probes (6) is integrated within a degasser unit (5) or directly within the separators (3.1, 3.2). The probes (6) apply high-frequency acoustic waves to the lye solution to induce cavitation, facilitating the desorption and removal of dissolved hydrogen and oxygen. The invention effectively maintains crossover impurities below 2% (v/v), expanding the safe operation and enhancing product gas purity in electrochemical systems. (Figure 1)
