MUMBAI, India, Sept. 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641108450 A) filed by Vels Institute Of Science, Technology And Advanced Studies Vistas on September 09, 2026, for Ultra-Compact Low-Profile Elliptical Antenna For Sub-Ghz Biomedical Wireless Communication.
Inventors include Akshaya U; and Jerritta S.
The application for the patent was published on September 18, 2026, under issue no. 38/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is an ultra-compact low-profile elliptical antenna (100) for sub-GHz biomedical wireless communication. The antenna (100) comprises a single-layer antenna substrate (108) supporting an elliptical radiating element (102), a microstrip feed line (106), an RF input/output port (118), a ground or reference plane (110), and a biomedical device integration region (120). The antenna (100) further comprises an integrated impedance-matching structure (104) formed directly as part of the radiating geometry of the elliptical radiating element (102). The integrated impedance-matching structure (104) includes one or more slot portions (112), one or more bar-shaped extensions (114), and an embedded matching section (116) for modifying surface current distribution, increasing effective electrical length, and tuning input impedance. The antenna (100) enables stable free-space resonance in the 868–915 MHz ISM band within about 13 mm³ without requiring external matching components. Fig. 1 is the reference figure.
