Abstract: The present invention provides a tyre inspection apparatus and an AI-based method for evaluation of tyre condition. The apparatus comprises a main body, inspection device, tyre driving arrangement, tyre identification device and control unit. The inspection device comprises a camera for capturing a tyre surface image, a laser sensor for measuring tread depth, and a hardness tester for determining a hardness characteristic of the tyre. The tyre driving arrangement supports and rotates a separated tyre for inspection of different circumferential portions. The tyre identification device obtains identifying information from a sidewall of the tyre. The acquired inspection data is transmitted to a remote computing system for image processing and AI-based analysis to identify defects and evaluate tyre characteristics. The remote computing system determines a tyre condition and remaining life of the tyre and generates an inspection report and maintenance recommendation. The apparatus further enables direct inspection of a vehicle-mounted tyre.
