MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641113563 A) filed by Andhra University on September 22, 2026, for Trimetallic Nanocomposite Photocatalyst For Enhanced Degradation Of Organic Dye Pollutants And Preparation Method.

Inventors include Kamala Babu Baddepudi; Prof. B. Kishore Babu; and Thutta Veerendra.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for preparing a trimetallic nanocomposite photocatalyst using a sol–gel technique for enhanced degradation of organic dye pollutants. ZnO nanoparticles are synthesized from zinc acetate dihydrate in the presence of citric acid and ethanol, followed by formation of a ZnO/CuO composite and subsequent incorporation of a titanium dioxide precursor to obtain a Ti–ZnO/CuO reaction mixture. The nanocomposite is precipitated, filtered, and calcined at about 300°C to obtain the photocatalyst. The synthesized nanocomposite enables enhanced photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes under ultraviolet and visible light irradiation for wastewater treatment applications. The proposed photocatalyst is capable of efficiently degrading organic dyes, including methylene blue, in aqueous solutions under light irradiation. The proposed photocatalyst possess nanoscale particle size and improved structural stability.
