Abstract: Tri-Scalar Crime Spatiality Analysis Model is a conceptual and analytical model designed to analyze the constitution of crime affecting subaltern communities in literary, cinematic and narrative texts. Traditional approaches to crime often focus on the offenders resulting in understanding criminality as an individualized deviant behaviour, overlooking the broader conditions that produce, normalise or challenge them. To overcome this limitation, TriCSAM employs a triadic spatial structure, including private, social, and cultural space, to map the layers at which crime is embedded within the narrative. Furthermore, the model operationalizes crime within each space into three analytical dimensions including production, normalization and contestation. By categorizing crime related determinants across the three spatial domains and three analytical dimensions, the model transforms qualitative narrative data into Crime Spatiality Profile (CSP) which explains the spatial constitution of crime in the narrative text. TriCSAM is an interdisciplinary model developed at the intersection of spatial theory, cultural studies, sociology and urban studies using Lefebvre's 'Production of Space', Bourdieu's theory of social reproduction and Fraser's theory of contestation. The model can be applied to literary, cinematic, media, sociological, and/or policy-oriented analyzes involving the constitution of crime which is not purely psychological.
