Abstract: ABSTRACT TRI-LAYERED FORWARD OSMOSIS MEMBRANE HAVING EGGSHELL-FILLED SUPPORT AND JUTE INTERLAYER A tri-layered forward osmosis membrane (100) is disclosed. An electrospun nanofibrous support layer (102) of poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) holds calcined eggshell particles (202) between polymer nanofibres (204) at a weight ratio of 1:1.5, the nanofibres (204) and particles (202) defining voids (206). An alkali-treated jute fibre intermediate layer (104) meets the support layer (102) at a first interface (108). A glutaraldehyde-crosslinked polyvinyl alcohol active layer (106) meets an opposite face at a second interface (110).
