Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a traversing means (1) for traversing a plurality of synthetic threads (2.1 - 2.6) on a winding device (3), with a plurality of traversing units (4.1 - 4.6), with a traction mechanism (5.1) and with a traversing drive (6), wherein the winding device (3) has a plurality of winding stations (7.1 - 7.6) which are arranged in a row and are arranged next to one another along a winding spindle (8) of the winding device (3), wherein the winding stations (7.1 - 7.6) are each assigned a traversing unit (4.1 - 4.6) each with a driving wheel (9.1 - 9.6), wherein the traversing units (4.1 - 4.6) are coupled via the driving wheels (9.1 - 9.6) and the traction mechanism (5.1) to the traversing drive (6) in order to drive them. The present disclosure also relates to a winding device (3) for winding up a plurality of synthetic threads (2.1 - 2.6) with a traversing means (1) of this type. The traction mechanism (5.1) can be produced more simply and with higher uniformity if a predefined first number of driving wheels (9.1 - 9.3) are coupled by way of a first traction mechanism (5.1) to the traversing drive (6) and if a predefined second number of driving wheels (9.4 - 9.6) are coupled by way of a second traction mechanism (5.2) to the traversing drive (6).
