The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The fast-paced production of municipal solid waste along with improper segregation at the source end of the waste stream presents many environmental and health risks across the globe. Traditional methods of waste management involve manual waste segregation and inefficiency during the collection phase which makes it hard to recycle the waste material and leads to excessive landfills. Therefore, there is a need to design a waste management and recycling model which ensures that waste is segregated responsibly to develop a sustainable circular economy. For this purpose, the IoT-based Smart Waste Management and Recycling System named TrashGo is designed where all phases of waste management will be streamlined and made easier through technology. In this context, the user will first purchase Smart Bins to segregate the waste into various types including wet, dry, and recyclable waste. The mobile application can be used by consumers for waste education along with earning rewards via cashbacks on segregation. The segregated waste is then collected by waste collectors who are authorized for collecting waste through a centralized management application under an In-Charger. Waste collected by the waste collectors is then taken to recycling firms where the waste is converted into reusable products or materials. This income from the sale of the recycled materials helps in funding the business model while rewarding participants in the scheme. Through all the architectural models of TrashGo, a central database and server is used for handling user information, Smart Bin details, waste collection process, rewards process, and analysis of operations. The administrator can then use the admin dashboard for managing the entire waste collection process, recycling activities, and reporting .TrashGo has managed to integrate the use of technology, rewards, coordination, and earning money through the recycling of waste material to enable effective segregation of waste, efficient recycling process, and minimize pollution.
