MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511017847 A) filed by Amity University on February 28, 2025, for Transition Metal-Doped Bismuth Titanate Nanostructures For Enhanced Photocatalytic Degradation Of Pollutants And Co2 Hydrogenation.

Inventors include Seema Garg; Isha Arora; Andra Sapi; and Amrish Chandra.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses transition metal-doped bismuth titanate nanostructures for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of pollutants and CO2 hydrogenation. The nanostructures comprise a bismuth titanate semiconductor matrix doped with transition metals selected from nickel, cobalt, and iron at concentrations of 0.1–0.2 mol %. The dopants modify the electronic structure, band gap, and charge-carrier dynamics, thereby improving photocatalytic performance. The invention further provides a coprecipitation-based preparation method involving controlled precursor mixing, pH adjustment, thermal treatment, and calcination to obtain doped nanostructures. Structural, optical, and photoelectrochemical characteristics demonstrate improved charge separation and catalytic efficiency. The disclosed nanostructures are suitable for photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants and photocatalytic CO2 hydrogenation, offering enhanced conversion efficiency through transition-metal-induced electronic modulation of the bismuth titanate lattice.
