MUMBAI, India, Sept. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202617085633 A) filed by Orange on July 13, 2026, for Transition Between Two Downmixing Modes With Optimised Level Control.
Inventors include Gurin, Alexandre; Lefort, Arnaud; and Ragot, Stphane.
The application for the patent was published on September 04, 2026, under issue no. 36/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for processing an audio signal during a transition between a first and a second downmixing mode of a stereophonic signal in order to obtain a monophonic signal, the processing method including the following steps: - applying a determined matching gain (501) to the signal resulting from the downmixing according to the second mode; - applying a crossfade (502), during a transition period, between the signal resulting from the downmixing according to the first mode and the signal resulting from the downmixing according to the second mode modified by applying the matching gain; - progressively varying the matching gain applied to the signal resulting from the second processing mode during the transition period and/or beyond the transition period until converging towards a value of one. The invention also relates to a processing device implementing the method.
