Abstract: The present invention relates to a biodegradable therapeutic delivery system (100). The system comprises a bio-resorbable substrate (102) and an electronic controller (104) disposed on the bio-resorbable substrate (102). The system (100) further comprises an electrochemical actuator (106) configured to generate pressure through electrochemical gas evolution, a collapsible reservoir (108) containing a therapeutic agent (108a), and a power source (110) electrically coupled to the electronic controller (104) and the electrochemical actuator (106). Further, the power source (110) comprises a magnesium-based anode. The system (100) further comprises a degradation-controlled encapsulation surrounding the system components and a bio-resorbable delivery interface comprising a microneedle. The degradation-controlled encapsulation maintains structural integrity of the system (100) for a predefined operational period of three to five days and thereafter permits degradation of the system (100) into biocompatible byproducts comprising silicic acid and magnesium hydroxide.
