Abstract: The present disclosure describes a transformer-less, single-source switched-capacitor boost multilevel power inverter (100) for DC–AC power conversion. In (100), if only SC-Unit-1 (102) and SC-Unit-2 (103) are considered, the generalized N-level inverter structure (100) will be reconfigured into a 13-level transformer-less, single- source switched-capacitor boost multilevel power inverter (200). The proposed inverter (200) generates a specific 13-level AC output voltage from a single DC input source (201) using only 11 power switches, 2 diodes, and 3 capacitors. A plurality of cascaded switched-capacitor units enables voltage boosting and multilevel voltage generation without the need for transformers, inductors, or multiple isolated DC sources (101, 201). A predefined switching sequence ensures inherent self-balancing of capacitor voltages, eliminating the need for voltage sensors or external balancing circuits. The inverter (200) achieves a voltage gain of 6 while maintaining reduced input ripple current through controlled charging and discharging of the capacitors. Operation under a level-shifted sinusoidal pulse-width modulation technique results in low harmonic distortion and stable output characteristics. The topology is inherently scalable to higher voltage levels and is suitable for renewable energy systems, distributed generation, and standalone power conversion applications.
