The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: Disclosed is a transaction-document capture apparatus having a housing, a document support, and a capture station. Opposed edge guides are coupled by an equalizing linkage for opposite movement about a capture centerline. A common actuator operates the edge guides and a movable platen through a lost-motion link. During a first actuator interval, the edge guides center a transaction document. During a second interval, the platen presses the centered document against the document support. An optical capture assembly aligned with the capture centerline includes a shutter linked to the platen. Movement of the platen into a capture position moves the shutter to expose an optical path, allowing the optical capture assembly to capture the transaction document while the document remains centered and pressed against the document support.
