The application for the patent was published on July 24, 2026, under issue no. 30/2026.
Abstract: A system (100) for traffic signal preemption for an emergency vehicle is disclosed, wherein the system (100) is implemented as a central hub unit (CHU) (102) comprising a processor (102-2) and a memory (102-4). The system (100) receives an authentication signal from an in-vehicle unit (IVU) (104), wherein the authentication signal is generated upon simultaneous detection of activation of an emergency signaling system and presence of a user device (106) within a predefined proximity range. The system (100) receives vehicle location data from the user device (106), determines an estimated time of arrival of the emergency vehicle at one or more intersections, and transmits a preemption command to a target traffic light unit (TLU) (110). The preemption command is relayed through a wireless mesh network of TLUs (110). The target TLU (110) actuates a traffic signal controller (208) and transmits an acknowledgment signal to the system (100).
