MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541029042 A) filed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited on March 27, 2025, for Torque-Split Gearbox For Power Transmission In Helicopter.

Abstract: A helicopter gearbox with torque split configuration of main gear box (MGB) with twin engine input axis (4,4a), combining twin engine torque received through four torque paths comprising, plurality of floating helical pinion (12,13) along axis (14), in such a way input torque is equally shared between plurality of a helical gear (16,17); wherein helical gears (16,17) drive double helical pinion (22,23) along the axis (18,19) respectively to drive double helical collector gear (24); wherein said collector gear (24) directly attached to main rotor shaft (7) at interface surface (26); said collector gear (24) integrated with shaft (25), further connected to main rotor shaft (7); wherein, the control rods (27) are accommodated with in the main rotor shaft (7); and the plurality of helical gears, bevel gears, double helical gear set assemble in to a gearbox casing through shafts and bearings to form a gearbox.
