MUMBAI, India, Sept. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511023219 A) filed by Sanskriti University on March 15, 2025, for Toothpick Dispensing Device.

Inventors include Dr. Gopal Arora; and Aishwary Awasthi.

The application for the patent was published on September 25, 2026, under issue no. 39/2026.

Abstract: A toothpick dispensing device, comprising base 101 with a cuboidal chamber 102 that stores toothpicks, connected to the base 101 by a ball-and-socket joint, a semi- cylindrical flap 103 with a pneumatic pusher 104 that extends towards the user, and an artificial intelligence- based imaging unit 105 that detects hand gestures in the vicinity of the device to trigger dispensing actions, the imaging unit 105 communicates with a microcontroller to tilt the chamber 102 and dispense a toothpick into the flap 103, a weight sensor embedded in the chamber 102 monitors the quantity of toothpicks and activates an audio warning when the weight drops below a threshold indicating the need for refilling, the device also includes a microphone 107 for voice-activated commands to dispense toothpicks, and a touch-enabled display that allows the user to check the remaining toothpicks by interacting with the weight sensor.
