MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441105293 A) filed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited on December 31, 2024, for Tooling For Extraction Of The Axle During Wheel Change.

Inventors include Suresh. M T; Manju M; and Sukhapala.

The application for the patent was published on July 03, 2026, under issue no. 27/2026.

Abstract: Tooling for extraction of the axle during wheel change The tooling(10) for extraction of the axle(200) during wheel change used to extract the axle(200) of nose landing gear of an aircraft, the tool(10) comprises, a rod(1) having external thread(13) on its outer surface, cup(2) works as stopper and guide the rod(1) and a nut(3) which facilitates the axle(200) removal and a lever(4) to apply force to extract the axle(200) from the piston fork(100) assembly. During wheel assembly removal(300), the bottle jack(600) is positioned in alignment with the dome adapter(500) and the load applied on the bottle jack(600) lifts the landing gear from the ground, the tool(10) is assembled over the assembly(300) guided into the axle(200) and axle nut(400) is removed. Lever(4) of the tool(10) is rotated, it pushes the axle(200)safely with the nut(3) transferring the extraction load to the flange of the piston fork(200) through the cup(2) and the axle(200) is slowly extracted from the wheel assembly(300).
