Abstract: The present invention relates to a tonsillar suction dissector (100) for use during a tonsillectomy procedure. The tonsillar suction dissector (100) comprises an elongated instrument body (102) extending between a proximal portion (104) and a distal portion (106), a grip portion (108), a suction passage (110), and a suction connection portion (112) configured to connect the suction passage (110) to a suction source. A curved dissecting portion (114) is provided at the distal portion (106) and comprises a plurality of tissue-engaging teeth (116) and a plurality of suction perforations (118) in fluid communication with the suction passage (110). The curved dissecting portion (114), tissue-engaging teeth (116), and suction perforations (118) are configured to enable simultaneous dissection of tonsillar tissue and suction of blood and/or surgical fluids from an operative site during the tonsillectomy procedure.
