Abstract: Embodiments of the present application provide a time advance reporting method and a communication apparatus, capable of achieving time advance reporting in a cell handover process. The method comprises: receiving a handover command from an access network device, wherein the handover command is used for instructing a terminal device to hand over from a source cell to a target cell; and when the handover command carries first indication information and/or second instruction information, triggering time advance reporting, wherein the time advance is a time advance corresponding to the target cell, the first indication information is used for indicating an offset threshold of the time advance reported by the terminal device, and the second instruction information is used for instructing the terminal device to report the time advance.
