MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514111450 A) filed by Borgwarner Inc. on November 14, 2025, for Three-Phase External Rotor Motor And Method For Assembling A Stator For A Three-Phase External Rotor Motor.
Inventors include Jan Schmolke; Georg Scholz; and Birgit Kullmann.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: A three-phase external rotor motor is described with a rotor (2) and a stator (1) surrounding the rotor (2), wherein the rotor (2) has permanent magnets (2a) and the stator (1) comprises a stack (12) with an annular cross-section, end caps (14) arranged at both ends of the sheet stack (12) and stator windings (11) arranged in slots on a radial outer side. According to the invention, the stator (1) has grooves (15a, 15b) on a radial inner side, which run in a straight line in the axial direction from one of the two end caps (14) over the sheet stack (12) to the other end cap (14). In addition, a method for assembling a stator for a three-phase external rotor motor is described. (Fig. 4)
