Abstract: ABSRACT Thermal Support Grid for Electric and Infrared Cooking Appliances The present invention relates to a thermal support grid for use with electric stoves, infrared cookers, electric hot plates and other thermally heated cooking appliances. The thermal support grid comprises an outer support frame, a plurality of support legs and a centrally disposed heat-diffusing element supported within the outer frame. The support legs maintain the heat-diffusing element in a spaced relationship above the heating surface of the cooking appliance such that cookware is mechanically supported independently of the heating surface. During operation, the heat- diffusing element receives heat generated by the cooking appliance and transfers the heat to the cookware through thermal conduction and thermal radiation, thereby promoting substantially uniform heat distribution. The thermal support grid protects the heating surface from direct mechanical loading, improves cookware stability and accommodates cookware of varying size
