Abstract: The rising indoor temperatures in buildings due to solar heat gain through roofs are a major concern for indoor comfort and energy consumption. This project focuses on developing a thermally resistive coating for roofing tiles using perlite and natural binders. Perlite, a lightweight porous material, is Used as the primary insulating component. The natural binders such as hydrated lime, rice starch, aloe vera, and beeswax are incorporated to ensure adhesion and eco-friendliness. This study involves preparing different coating compositions by varying binder proportions and applying them on roofing tiles. The coated samples are tested for thermal conductivity, surface temperature reduction and water absorption. The results aim to evaluate the effectiveness of the coatings in reducing heat transfer and •improving water resistance. These provide a low-cost, sustainable, and environmentally friendly solution to reduce indoor temperature and energy used in buildings. The findings contribute to the development of alternative roofing materials that enhance thermal comfort while supporting sustainable construction practices.
