Abstract: Title: Thermal Insulated Bricks Made Using PET Processed Waste The present invention relates to assess the suitability of boiler ash processed-from PET waste by acid activation in the development of bricks. Boiler ash is activated by using orthophosphoric acid. Activated boiler ash replaced to virgin clay up to 60% in the bricks and the properties were analysed through 10 physio-mechanical, thermal and durability properties. Developed bricks were sintered at varied temperature viz., 900°C, 1000°C and 1100°C. Activated ash substituted up to 55wt% to the weight of clay improved the properties by achieving the light-weight material of density 1.53 g/cm3, better compressive strength of 13.73 MPa and water absorption of 14.48% which is within the 15 permissible limit. Bricks are thermally insulated at increasing the dosage of boiler ash. Acid activation of boiler ash promotes the vitrification in the bricks and as well as stabilize the metals and remove the organic matter even at low sintered temperature of 900°C. The present invention paves an effective method for maximum utilization of solid waste as a building 20 material without altering the standards.
