The application for the patent was published on September 11, 2026, under issue no. 37/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a passive thermal management apparatus (100) configured to regulate the temperature of one or more heat-generating electronic components (110) subjected to transient, intermittent, cyclic, or pulsed heat loads. The apparatus (100) comprises a thermally conductive enclosure (102) defining an internal cavity, a phase change material (104) partially occupying the internal cavity, and one or more internal heat-transfer members (106) extending from a thermally conductive base into the phase change material (104). An expansion region is retained within the enclosure (102) to accommodate volumetric expansion and redistribution of the phase change material (104) during melting. Heat generated by the electronic component (110) is transferred through a thermal interface material (108), the thermally conductive base, and the internal heat-transfer members (106) into the phase change material (104) for storage as sensible and latent heat. The stored thermal energy is subsequently rejected through the enclosure (102) and an external heat-rejection structure (118), thereby reducing peak temperature, suppressing transient temperature rise, and facilitating repeated melting and solidification cycles.
