Abstract: The present invention discloses a bio-polymer based spray formulation designated as C- OptiHeal-DM developed for the treatment of infected diabetic ulcers. The formulation comprises an aqueous leaf extract of Moringa oleifera integrated into a chitosan—alginate polyelectrolyte complex along with pharmaceutically acceptable stabilizing and viscositymodifying agents. The electrostatic interaction between chitosan and alginate results in formation of a structured polymeric network capable of sustained and localized release of plant- derived bioactive constituents. The developed spray demonstrates antimicrobial activity against wound-associated pathogens, antioxidant potential, and cytocompatibility with mammalian skin cell lines under in vitro conditions. The spray delivery system ensures uniform wound surface coverage, supports moisture balance, and provides a stable and scalable therapeutic platform for infected diabetic ulcer management.
